  • Contact your wedding planner: They will be very helpful during this transition

  • If you have wedding insurance contact your insurance agent to discuss options.

  • Your wedding venue may be willing to accommodate date changes to postpone your wedding. • You will want to contact your vendors next. It will be case by case bases, however if they are not available for your new determined wedding date they may can offer a credit for future service rendered.

  • Contact your wedding guests, by email, phone or social media. Everyone should be more than understanding at this time. If your guest are flying in airlines may have canceled flights or willing to offer a credit for a future date.

  • The Bridal Room Va now offer virtual appointments if you are ready to say yes or just getting started we can still help you through the process.

  • Lastly…. relax this is all out of your control. Take some time enjoying this moment with your family.

Collection Spotlight – Kelly Faetanini Spring 2020 Marilyn Collection

Mom’s never pick favorites; they love all of their kids equally. At the Bridal Room, it’s similar with our designers, we love each designer and each collection for different reasons. But one holds a special place in our heart above the rest as someone who has been with our boutique since we opened, is a pleasure to work with, and of course makes gorgeous gowns!

Get ready for a “pretty post” today as we show off Kelly’s gorgeous new Spring 2020 collection. We are so excited to be receiving our stores samples of some of the gowns we selected to carry, so while we won’t have all of these dresses all the time, we can sometimes have certain gowns visit us, or sometimes the whole collection will visit us for a trunk show! If you have any questions about which gowns, we carry, or having a certain gown visit us, you can always give us a call or email.

Kelly Describes her new collection as “uniquely feminine in never before seen new ways” and these four dresses Thelma, Doris, Susan, and Dorothy are the perfect embodiment of femininity with slimming silhouettes and timeless lace.

Two showstoppers from the Marilyn collection are Monroe and Grace. The Marilyn collection embodies “Old Hollywood glamour” and these two gowns came to strut that red carpet! Monroe features a gorgeous removable train, and Grace a removable overskirt, which from our last blog post is totally #trending.

For our blush lovers (Ahem – our Receptionist Elissa is obsessed) Kelly continued her trend of adding color to her collections and we are here for it! Joan is a beautiful sequel to Tiana from the Carousel Collection with that gorgeous ivory to pink ombre ruffle. Ruby, Lucille, and Brigitte all come in blush or ivory and go with the Marilyn collection “sassy, yet classy bridal style”.

Two more showstoppers from the collection are Brigitte and Bardot! We love the uniquely feminine lace top and sweet soft crepe bottom. Both have a custom removable over skirt that adds as Kelly put best “va-va-voom!”

These four new gowns are breathtaking and so intriguing. The mix of plain and sleek with interesting necklines, backs and shapes create what Kelly calls “edginess while still holding a classic vibe” and we couldn’t agree more!

We hope you enjoyed viewing Kelly’s gorgeous new collection! If you think any of these could be your dream gown for your wedding, we would love for you to try them with us! You can give us a call or visit the appointment tab on our website to see live appointment times and dates and book with ease.

Dress Double Take

An emerging trend we are loving lately is the double dress. Whether it be a removable train, a removable skirt, or two different dresses for ceremony and reception, we love the idea of having two looks in one day! After all, you only get married once!

Many of our designers in this past and upcoming season are beginning to explore over skirts, removable sleeves, and detachable trains to give modern brides that two-in-one look that they are loving. If you are looking to make guests do a double-take on your big day, come visit us at The Bridal Room so you can see our transforming gowns like the ones below!

Removable Train Looks

Allure Couture C387 - A removable train attached to a sparkly belt for added drama and glam!

Kelly Faetanini “Giselle” – A removable tulle train with a lace hem to accentuate the dresses hem. Kelly describes it best by saying “feel like a A-list celebrity walking down the red carpet (ahem, I mean wedding aisle)”

Nicole Spose 17116 – A removable tulle train with a classic beaded belt on this gorgeous illusion neck fit-to-flare gown. Put these two together for a classic elegant look with a little glamour and sass!

Removable Overskirt Looks

Tara Lauren “Easton” – This removable overskirt has become so popular with our brides, and is definitely a personal favorite. For brides who love 3D floral, this skirt is for you! This dress is also gorgeous in both blush (pictured) and ivory (our store sample).

Blush by Hayley Paige “Fawn” – This overskirt turns this gorgeous fit-to-flare gown into an A-line dream! The lace trim is so unique and gorgeous! Perfect for any bride that wants to be a princess – but also classic and elegant.

Tara Lauren “Sienna” – Paired with Tara’s Giles dress, the light and airy tulle skirt is simple, while adding elegant dimension to dresses.

We love the excitement that comes with two wedding day looks, and we hope you will come and try some out with us soon! As always, you can give us a call or use our website to see live appointment times and book with ease.

Gown Preservation

Calling all newly wed brides!

Congratulations on your newfound marriage! Now that you have said your “I do’s” and have started to enjoy all the fun married life has in store, have you thought about preserving your dress? One of the most treasured heirlooms from weddings past is the brides dress, and even if future children decide not to wear the same dress, they may use your dress in other ways as a part of their big day! The Bridal Room is happy to offer gown cleaning and preservation to keep your gown safe and clean for many years to come.

Unlike regular clothing, wedding gowns are often very delicate, and if not preserved can yellow over time. You may want to pass on your beautiful gown one day, or use the fabric for a loved one’s “something borrowed”. We have seen veils made from moms hem lace, garters from grandma’s veil lace, and even a dress sleeve used as a bouquet wrap! There are so many reasons to clean and preserve your dress.

Our gown preservation service ensures the gown is professionally cleaned and preserved and the gown is then sealed in a white window box. All it takes is dropping off your gown and other bridal accessories (They can do veils and belts too!) with us and we will send it out for the service! The finished product will be done after 6-8 weeks and ready for pick up at the boutique or can be shipped to your home. A perfect way to save memories of your big day!

Give us a call with any questions you may have!

The Bridal Shopping Timeline

The Bridal Room would love to extend a warm congratulations to all the newly engaged brides out there! Now that you have said “yes”, the biggest question we get is “When should I start dress shopping?” or “How early do I need to get my dress?”. In this post we will give you the inside scoop on the timeline of bridal shopping.

When you begin your dress shopping journey it is important to do your research about dresses, styles, and designers, but also about the timeline. When you find a gown that makes you feel stunning, you want to make sure you have enough time to get the dress in and tailored perfect for your big day!

Wedding dress shopping should start nine to ten months before your wedding. It is a big decision, so it is okay to take your time, but avoid thinking too long or shopping too many places and confusing yourself with all of the options. Shortly after the nine month mark is when you should order your dress. Once you say “yes” to your dress (Hooray), the order for your gown is placed with the designer. Depending on the designer of your chosen gown, It takes four to six months to make the dress and ship it to the salon. Once the dress arrives, it will be inspected and ready for alterations! The first fitting takes place two months before your wedding, and the second is two-three weeks before.

2 months for shopping + 6 months for the dress to be made + 2 months in alterations makes 10 months total. Unlike other dresses, bridal gowns are made to order, which is why they take extra time and care. Once the designer receives the order, they begin to make the gown from scratch. Once the dress arrives and is inspected, our alteration team and seamstress will begin alterations. The seamstress will pin, cut, and work their magic to ensure the dress is hemmed and fitted to perfection for your big day!

We hope that our post is helpful to our newly engaged brides looking for a place to start, and for those brides who might not have 10 months, please do not fret! We have solutions for brides on a time crunch, give us a call so we can work with you on finding your perfect gown!

Looking forward to meeting you soon lovely!

Destination Wedding Dresses

As the season begin to turn its hard not to think of the ultimate romantic getaway. More and more brides are planning destination weddings. What’s not to love? Destination Weddings are exciting, adventurous, intimate and so romantic. Here are some tips when shopping for your destination wedding dress and travelling with you dream gown!

Shop for a dress that will compliment your destination.

When shopping for your dream dress you must always keeping mind where you are getting married and find a dress that is the best fit. If you are getting married in a warm climate or by the beach you want to select a gown that is light that won’t weigh you down or get to hot through out the day. Breathable fabrics are a must for a hot and humid location. You can always let your bridal consultant know you are planning a destination wedding and they will be able to give suggestions.

If your in need of a little inspiration we will be hosting the Tara Lauren 2019 Isle Botanica Collection January 11th-13th. Inspired by Bali with lush floral fabrics and breezy silhouettes it will make a perfect fit for a destination wedding. Be sure to check out our Instagram for some sneak peeks or the Tara Lauren website. You can book your appointment for the trunk show on the Bridal Room website.

Know how to travel with your dress.

Once a destination bride find her dream gown her next steps is to figure out a travel plan. If you are flying call the airline ahead of time and inform then that you are travelling with a wedding dress. Keep your gown with you as a personal item when checking into your flight and you can ask the crew to store it in the plane closet.

Pack your day of essentials

Amongst other day of essentials we always recommend having a mini steamer for last minute touches. After travelling the dress may wrinkle and need a light steaming before the ceremony. Sewing kits are a great item to keep on hand if buttons need to secured or if there loose threads
