“We have to allow ourselves to be loved by the people who really love us, the people who really matter. Too much of the time, we are blinded by our own pursuits of people to love us, people that don't even matter, while all that time we waste and the people who do love us have to stand on the sidewalk and watch us beg in the streets! It's time to put an end to this. It's time for us to let ourselves be loved.”

Once a destination bride find her dream gown her next steps is to figure out a travel plan. If you are flying call the airline ahead of time and inform then that you are travelling with a wedding dress. Keep your gown with you as a personal item when checking into your flight and you can ask the crew to store it in the plane closet.

Pack your day of essentials

Amongst other day of essentials we always recommend having a mini steamer for last minute touches. After travelling the dress may wrinkle and need a light steaming before the ceremony. Sewing kits are a great item to keep on hand if buttons need to secured or if there loose threads

Bridal Shopping 101

First things first. Congratulations on your engagement! Now that you’ve said the most important “Yes!” now it time to begin your search for the dream dress! We know you probably have a million questions but we are hear to help. Here are our top 5 tips to make the most out of your bridal shopping experience.

1.       Define your look and create a Vision

When it comes to wedding planning having a clear vision of the overall day and your look is crucial to finding the dress. Start with honing in on your personal style and where you want to get married. The venue and the dress are what define the tone for your big day. Are you having a chic city wedding, relaxed beach wedding or classic church nuptials? Once you have done that you will have a clear vison of what you need to look for in your dress.

2.       Research styles and Designers

Now it' s time to research what styles, fabrics and designers that will help bring your vision to life. Pinterest, Instagram and Bridal Magazines are excellent places to start your research.  Be sure to research designers and their price points so that you don't go over budget. Save your images and bring them to your bridal appointment, this will help the consultant better understand what you are looking for!

3.       Make your appointment

It's officially dress shopping time! Research local bridal shops that you would like to book your appointment with. If you are look for a specific designer, stores will list them on their website or you can always call ahead if there is something specific you are looking for.

The first thing brides need to know is the Bridal timeline, which is how long it takes for the dresses to be ordered and altered before your big day. Dresses take 4-6 months to be ordered and you want to allow for a 2 month cushion for alterations and the bridal salons needs about a month as puffer. Ideally, Brides should order their gown 9-11 months before their wedding.

4.       Prepare for your appointment

The appointment is booked now it's time to shop!

First, make sure to bring proper undergarments, such as spanx, strapless bra and nude under wear, This will help you better visualize the look and fit of the dress.

Second, limit your bridal party. It is best to not bring too many people to your appointment as it can make the appointment very overwhelming. One to two trusted opinions is more than enough to help find the one. Also, if some people can't make it, its always a good idea to coordinate FaceTime while you are shopping.

5.       Have fun!

This is one of the most joyous times of your life and you deserve to enjoy it! So relax, and always remember to have fun. Keep in mind that this is a process that takes time to narrow down to the "one". Don't stress and trust that everyone is here for you to ensure you will be beautiful, happy and the bride you were always meant to be.
